The contract for the Preliminary Design and Environmental Review consultant was awarded in December 2018. Project initiation activities, including the project plan, quality plan and schedule, are being completed, and the identification and evaluation of potential new station site locations is underway for the new East Yaphank Station. The consultant will be initiating the development of the draft conceptual design for a new diesel and potential future electric station.
The goal of this project is to identify a new station site, examine the project according to the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) and prepare preliminary design documents which will be utilized to award one or more design/build contract(s).
Once constructed, this project will provide improved rail transportation access for Suffolk County residents, employers, and employees in this rapidly growing area of the County.
