The addition of amenities to Stony Brook Station is expected to be completed by December 31, 2018. The station building, opened since November, has been repainted. The waiting room now provides LIRR customers with two new benches with seating for eight, two active USB charging stations and four LCD information screens, the fourth to be activated this month – access card readers will also be installed in the waiting room by year-end.
The plaza outside the station has been paved with brick, and there are now two new benches with seating for eight and two active USB charging stations on the east side of the station building between the building and three ticket vending machines. Two information totems, one near the station entrance and one adjacent to the railroad crossing, have been unboxed and will soon be activated.
Lighted bollards have been installed at the western entrance to the railroad crossing and at the staircase to the westbound platform. The shelter on the westbound platform now provides LIRR customers with a new bench with seating for four and two USB charging stations. New photo cell lighting has been installed on both platforms.
