As all New Yorkers fight to flatten the curve in the COVID-19 crisis by staying home, stories abound about people and organizations going above and beyond. MTA C&D’s partners in our capital program are no exception.
One example is Duggal Visual Solutions, part of the team creating an expansive and intricate regional map graphic for the East End Gateway project in Penn Station. The firm recently stepped up to support workers in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A fabricator of large custom print installations, Duggal recently converted their Brooklyn Navy Yard facility to produce protective face shields for medical workers. It’s one more encouraging instance of New Yorkers showing strength and cooperation in the face of adversity.
Typically one of the most crowded spaces in the city, the East End Gateway and LIRR Concourse Project will provide much-needed space in Penn Station. We’re doubling the width of the passageway so the LIRR Main Concourse will be safer and less congested upon completion. The project will provide better ingress and egress, improved passenger flow, and more personal space and elbow room – something valued by commuters now more than ever.
The overall Penn Station redevelopment master plan continues to move forward and will fully transform the LIRR Concourse into a modern, world-class transportation hub. For more information and construction photos, please visit the East End Gateway and LIRR Concourse project page on AModernLI.com.
