Project Overview

As part of the LIRR Expansion Project from Floral Park to Hicksville, the Floral Park substation, located opposite 111 Plainfield Avenue in Floral Park, will undergo modifications. Substations are integral components of a railroad system that provide power to the trains and ensure smooth service throughout the trip. Modifications to the Floral Park substation are necessary to service the additional third track. The Floral Park substation modifications are part of a larger initiative to enhance service reliability and support system expansion throughout the LIRR and ultimately support the growth and development of Long Island.
